A Marietta man accused of breaking an infant's leg remains in jail after an April 3 arrest, according to the Cobb County Sheriff's Office.

Mario Alberto Padron, 24, allegedly left a 2-month-old infant on the edge of a bed that was 33 inches above the floor. He went to a nearby closet to get baby wipes, but within seconds, the baby fell off the bed, injuring his leg.

Padron neglected to inform the baby's mother of the incident and failed to seek medical treatment until the following day.

The baby was taken to the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta where a physician found that the baby had a broken leg, in addition to three bone injuries in the same leg. Per the arrest warrant, the additional bone injuries were not from an accident, and abuse is suspected.

Padron was arrested and charged with one felony count of cruelty to children and deprivation of necessary sustenance, one misdemeanor count of reckless conduct, and one misdemeanor count of contributing to the deprivation of a minor, resulting in serious injury or death. Originally from Mexico, he also has an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainer.

Pardon remains in Cobb County jail with no bond.
