Marie Anna Klein - a Walsh Jesuit High School cheerleader in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio –broke the Guinness Book of World Records’ previous record for the number of handsprings she was able to do during a Walsh Jesuit High School versus St. Vincent-St. Mary High School (of Akron, Ohio) football game several days ago, according to a Yahoo! News report on Friday. According to witnesses at the event, Klein amassed 42 handsprings – though the video appears to show 40. Whichever, the young lady can definitely do handsprings.
Klein started at the one-yard line and back flipped to the opposite end of the field’s 35-yard line for an incredible 65 yards of handsprings done in reverse.
Admitted by Klein, she was made extremely heady or dizzy – make that very, very dizzy – as she flip-flopped end over end 42 times without stopping. In her own words, Klein admitted that it was crazy, and she absolutely loved how the crowd reacted. She said her mom was crying. She also said it didn’t feel real at times as she was doing the record-breaking activity, admitting that she almost passed out though she kept going. Now, she wants to break her own record.
Klein, who stands just 4 feet and 11 inches tall, has become more than a local star for her accomplishment as she was mentioned on ESPN’s SportsCenter and more.
