Pop star Mariah Carey released her new single, “Almost Home,” on Monday. The uplifting ballad will be released from the upcoming Disney movie, “Oz The Great and Powerful.”
“Almost Home” follows Carey's “Triumphant (Get 'Em)” single from last year, but offers a lot more of the singer's big vocals this time around. The electronic ballad was produced by Stargate, the team behind Rihanna's “Diamonds.” The song fits in the vein of an inspiring Disney release, but also has the potential to crossover to radio with its fresh production. Carey's signature voice is on full display as her melisma on-point and big notes are tackled with ease.
“Almost Home” will be released to iTunes on Tuesday, Feb. 19. The singer-songwriter is currently sitting as judge on FOX's “American Idol” with Randy Jackson, Keith Urban, and Nicki Minaj. The fantasy film, “Oz The Great and Powerful” will hit theaters on March 8.
