Mariah Carey is not concerned about low 'Idol' ratings

Yesterday, it was announced that American Idol ratings are so low that, well, we may not see it on television anytime soon. But people close to Mariah Carey tell us that the superstar could care less.

"Mariah's appearance on "American Idol" is basically promotion for her future projects. She has a new single coming out, a new album coming out, a future tour, and several possible movie projects. She has moved on," one source tell us. Another tells us that the problems on the set of "American Idol" are being way over-exaggerated.

We recently revealed a new Mariah Carey song called "Hope Street" about a month ago. Plans have recently changed to make that a single, but it will still appear on her upcoming album, which is very experimental and not the usual R&B/Pop fluff that Mariah Carey is known for. Oh, and that voice -- it will definitely be heard.
