Mariah Carey is going to be singing this holiday season. The talented entertainer has never hid the fact that she loves Christmas and this year she is singing once again. While some fans were aware she was part of the Rockefeller holiday celebration in New York City, but Mariah announced on Tuesday she is performing for the National Christmas Tree Lighting in Washington DC.
“I'll be performing at Nat'l #Christmas Tree Lighting on 12/6! You can watch LIVE,” tweeted Mariah Carey from her official Twitter account on Tuesday. The entertainer is one of several well-known performers scheduled to hit the stage for the event.
In 1923, President Calvin Coolidge turned on the first National Christmas Tree. The 48-foot fir tree decorated with 2,500 electric bulbs in red, white and green. Over the years the nation has come together to celebrate the season in this holiday event that is part of America’s tradition.
The 91st Annual National Christmas Tree Lighting will air on Friday, December 6, 2013 starting at 4:30.
