Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon allegedly separated and ready for divorce

According to the Huffington Post on Wednesday, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon have been living in two separate houses in New York since May. Reliable sources say divorce lawyers have been negotiating a property settlement and custody agreement for months and the divorce is "a done deal." Carey's rep told the Huffington Post she doesn't comment on the singer's personal life.

Carey, 44, married the "America's Got Talent" host, 33, in 2008, and they have three-year-old twins Monroe and Moroccan. Sources connected with the couple tell TMZ that Cannon sees their children, but that's the extent of their contact. The reason for the breakup is because Carey has allegedly suspected Cannon of cheating. The New York Daily News says Carey and Cannon's marital started when Cannon appeared on Big Boy's radio show in March and played a game. The question was to name the five celebrities you've slept with. Nick named five, but the one that made Mariah mad was Kim Kardashian.

In addition to that, Carey allegedly hired a security guard to keep an eye on her husband when he hosted a handful of pool parties in Las Vegas recently. The security guard wasn't there to keep the girls away from him. It was to keep him away from the girls.

It is quite noticeable that the power couple has not been photographed together in many months; yet they are usually chatty on social media with others. There has been a while since Carey has featured her own husband on her news feed.

Another reason the couple isn't seeing eye to eye is because Carey feels Cannon has abandoned her by taking every job that's on the table when they don't need the money. She's especially angry because it keeps him away from her and their kids. Cannon's side of the story is that Carey can't handle it when people he disagrees with her because she has often been around "yes men."

On Thursday, Cannon confirmed the separation, according to BET. He said, "There is trouble in paradise. We have been living in separate houses for a few months." While Cannon wouldn't elaborate on the cause of their separation, he did dismiss the idea that his rumored infidelity was a factor. The actor/comedian/host also added, "My main focus is my kids."
