Mariah Carey 'Almost Home' gets off to a distant start

Mariah Carey's hyped-up new single "Almost Home" has fallen to number 84 on iTunes this afternoon, just two days after its official release. Radio stations don't seem to be jumping on the song and it looks like Mariah may have to deal with another flop single, something she has been used to since 2008.

Should we completely count out "Almost Home?" Absolutely not! First of all, the song is much better than anything Mariah has put out in years. It's a perfect pop record that doesn't try too hard to be hip. It has a Katy Perry "Fireworks" vibe to it as well. Let's not forget the movie where the song comes from, "Oz The Great and Powerful," will be released in a couple weeks and if the movie is a big hit, it can help propel "Almost Home" back up the charts.

"Almost Home" is a fresh breath of air after Mariah's last supposed comeback single "Triumphant" flopped hard last August. Let's hope that the music listening audience gives it a chance.
