Antojitos on CityWalk at Universal Orlando Resort is primarily a restaurant, but in many ways it's also an entertainment venue. From the eclectic decor, which you can see in this article, to the live mask painting that provides guests with free souvenirs (read about it in this article), there's always something to see. And why is there a stage in the main dining area? Why, for the live mariachi band, of course!
A mariachi troupe appears onstage periodically throughout the evening to perform an interesting mix of traditional Mexican songs and pop hits. When I attended the media dinner for the grand opening, I must admit it was the first time I'd ever heard the Human League's "Don't You Want Me Baby" performed mariachi style. You can see them from both the main floor and the upstairs if you have a table near the rail. Even if you don't, you'll still be able to hear them.
This is a band on the move, so don't be surprised if you spot them elsewhere. As you'll see in the slideshow accompanying this article, they were out in front of the restaurant and also played on the upstairs balcony several times. It adds a fun element to an evening of fine dining or grabbing some quick drinks and snacks. To read more about the food and see some photos, jump to this article.
