Maria Sharapova sets record at Australian Open with victory over Flipkens

Maria Sharapova set a new Australian Open’s record on Sunday during her dominating performance against Belgium’s Kirsten Flipkens (scores of 6-1, 6-0).

The sexy tennis player from Russia is ranked No.2 in the world and has lost only five games in four matches, besting the previous record of eight games set by Steffi Graf and Monica Seles.

Sharapova, who was once featured in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, will continue her quest to win a second Australian Open title and fifth Grand Slam when she faces fellow Russian Ekaterina Makarova in the quarter-finals.

Makarova beat fifth-seeded Angelique Kerber 7-5, 6-4 in the semi-finals.
