Maria Menounos has written the book The EveryGirl's Guide to Diet and Fitness: How I lost 40 lbs and Kept It Off-And How You Can Too! An exerpt from her book was printed in the April 2014 issue of Ladies' Home Journal.
Maria's parents were immigrants from Greece and her father was a type 1 diabetic. She ate a healthy Mediterranean diet until she got a job at a doughnut shop when she was 13-years-old. She couldn't resist eating all the sugar around her. She started eating a lot of junk food and gaining weight. Her first year in college, she gained 40 lbs. Her poor diet caused her to be hospitalized several times for exhaustion, malnutrition, and dehydration.
In the exerpt, Maria lists ten sensible tips that anyone can do to lose weight and keep it off. What it doesn't say in the magazine is if she currently maintains her fabulous figure with a personal chef and trainer.
In addition to hosting Extra, Maria can be seen on her new reality TV show Chasing Maria Menounos. In St. Paul, Chasing Maria Menounos can be seen Tuesdays at 9:00 p.m. on Oxygen. Ladies' Home Journal is available where most women's magazines are sold.
Julia Parent also writes St. Paul TV Examiner and St. Paul Books Examiner articles.
