Happy Margarita Day! Walt Disney World Resort (WDW) offers several spots to sip and stroll this popular tequila-based cocktail, from Epcot’s World Showcase and Disney’s Hollywood Studios to Downtown Disney and the resorts.
While guests can order a margarita throughout WDW – with the major exception being Magic Kingdom, which does not serve alcohol – as part of a standard bar menu, there are some places that specialize in making their margaritas memorable.
Although incomplete, here are some favorite places for mouth-watering margaritas at Walt Disney World.
Mexico’s La Cava del Tequila, Epcot World Showcase: La Cava, located inside the Mexico pavilion, offers a wide range of tequilas and specialty margaritas as well as some quick-service food to accompany the libations. In addition to the classic cocktail, some popular version include the avocado, cucumber, jalapeno and wild passion fruit. La Cava offers a resident tequila ambassador for those who seek to know more about the drink.
Mexico also offers margaritas at other locations, including La Hacienda de San Angel (with its own tequila ambassador), La Cantina de San Angel, San Angel Inn and the margarita stand.
Italy also offers the Italian margarita, made with grappa and limoncello at Via Napoli and the drink kiosks.
Hollywood Brown Derby, Disney’s Hollywood Studios: In addition to its Derby margarita (with Cointreau, sweet-and-sour mix, and Grand Marnier), the Hollywood Brown Derby offers a Citizens Take Flight with three flavored margaritas named after Streetmosphere characters.
Looking for a margarita made just like dad used to concoct? Visit Tune In-Lounge, next to ‘50s Prime Time Café.
Dawa Bar, Animal Kingdom: Located next to Tusker House, the Dawa Bar serves the African Margarita, made with tequila, tangerine liqueur and lime juice. It’s superior to the other margaritas available in this theme park, which offer fairly common margaritas.
Paradiso 37, Taste of the Americas Downtown Disney Pleasure Island: Another spot for tequilas lovers is Paradiso 37, which offers 37 different tequilas (hence the name). The restaurant also offers its own signature frozen margaritas. Try the mango or the Mangled Margarita, a layered combination of margarita and sangria.
There are several other places that serve a variety of margaritas in the Downtown Disney area. Try Bongos Cuban Café at Downtown Disney West Side for its Cuban, passion fruit and lime margaritas. Or enjoy a specialty margarita – say, the pomegranate or golden – at MacGuffins, the bar at AMC Downtown Disney 24 Dine-In movie theatre.
For a casual option, order a margarita at the outdoor Margarita Bar at Downtown Disney Marketplace.
Maya Grill, Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort: At Maya Grill, guests can enjoy several signature margaritas, including classic, frozen and Margarita Rocas. Best of all, Maya Grill offers a margarita flight of five sampler shots. (The restaurant also offers a tequila flight).
Primarily interested in the drinks and not dinner? Head to Rix Lounge and order a specialty margarita, margarita flight or tequila flight.
Of course, Walt Disney World also offers a number of bars and lounges where one can sip on a good margarita or other cocktail, and offer a standardized drink menu. For the drinks and atmosphere, try Tambu Lounge at the Polynesian Resort, Outer Rim at the Contemporary and Victoria Falls at Animal Kingdom Lodge.
