Margarita recipes to help celebrate National Margarita Day

February 22nd is National Margarita Day - as if anyone needs an excuse to drink a margarita.

The original 1948 recipe was created by Dallas socialite Margarita Sames at a party in her Acapulco villa. She had the idea to mix fresh lime juice with her two favorite drinks: Cointreau and Tequila. Her cocktail kept the party going for two weeks!

Now that's what we call a party!!

You can stick with tradition and go with the tried-and-true original margarita or start your own tradition and keep the party going even longer with one of these other tasty versions.

Happy National Margarita Day!

The Original Margarita

1 oz Cointreau

3/4 oz fresh lime juice

Fill cocktail shaker with ice and add ingredients. Shake well and strain into sugar rimmed glass. Garish with lime slices or organic rose petals for an exotic flair.

Cranberry Margarita
