Several CBS series will be celebrating milestone episodes this season, and say what you will about the "CSI" franchise, which has seen two of its series cancelled in recent years, but reaching the 300th episode is something a show deserves recognition for, even if you stopped watching 200 episodes ago. On Tuesday, Aug. 20, CBS sent out a press release revealing that Marg Helgenberger will be returning for "CSI's" milestone 300th episode.
The 300th episode is slated to air on Wednesday, Oct. 23, with the show's season 14 premiere airing at 10 p.m. on Sept. 25. Usually, milestone episodes feature something extra special, whether it's a returning character or a special storyline or both, and that is going to be the case with "CSI." Not only is Helgenberger returning as Catherine Willows (she last appeared in season 12 episode 12, "Willows in the Wind," which aired Jan. 25, 2012), the case for that episode is going to be taking the team pretty far back. In fact, it will be taking them back to the very beginning.
Catherine Willows is back to help the team with a cold case that has haunted them for 14 years when they investigate a homicide in the home of a reclusive former casino mogul who was a suspect in a similar crime back in 2000. This leads to the CSIs remember who they were and where they were back then as they go about solving this cold case. Everyone has come a pretty long way since the first season, and while we've enjoyed the new team members who have come and gone since then, there's something special about returning to the beginning, especially after a show has been on as long as "CSI" has. It sounds like this episode should be one even the most casual "CSI" fan will enjoy tuning in to watch.
"CSI" season 14 will air Wednesdays at 10 p.m. on CBS this fall. Are you looking forward to Marg Helgenberger's return and the 300th episode?
