Combine Abner Mares and Anselmo Moreno, two of the top 5 super bantamweights in the world, and an arena that can hold up to 20,000 people. What you have is a super-fight at the sports and entertainment capital of the world. On Saturday, November 10 at 3:00 p.m., Mares will defend his crown against Moreno at STAPLES Center, making this a night that true boxing fans everywhere have been waiting for.

First up is 26-year-old Abner Mares. He is an undefeated Mexican, and current WBC Super Bantamweight holder and is a very technical and highly skilled fighter. This is going to be Mares’ 7th fight in the last 30 months. He has gone through a brutal schedule of fights, which included a controversial draw to Yonnhy Perez, a close split decision to Vic Darchinyan, 2 hard fought fights against Joseph Agbeko and then the domination of Eric Morel in his last fight in April. Mares is known as one of the warriors of the sport because he will fight anyone, anywhere, at anytime and not complain about it. Which brings us to his next opponent, Anselmo Moreno.

The 27-year-old Panamanian, and WBA World Bantamweight Champion, Anselmo Moreno (33-1-1 with 12 KOs) is one of the most technically sound and skilled fighters in the sport today. He has dominated the 118 lbs division for the past year and this will be his 1st fight at 122 lbs; but don’t let that fool you. Fans watching should expect Moreno to put up a brilliant fight. His only blemishes are from 10 years ago when he had a draw in his 6th career fight and then a controversial loss in his 7th career fight. But again, that was 10 years ago. Since then, Moreno has run off 28 straight wins and has long waited for his chance to get a bigger fight against some of the best in the world.

Both of these great fighters have a lot at stake with this fight, but they also have a lot to gain. Both are at a prime time in their careers and both know what it feels like to be a champion. Both would also like to opportunity to eventually go up against the four-division world champion and reigning WBO and IBF Super Bantamweight Champion, Nonito Donaire. Fans everywhere are eager to see who will come out on top.

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to see these two champions go head to head Saturday, November 10 at 3:00 p.m. at STAPLES Center. Tickets to see the fight live will go on sale as early as Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at www.staplescenter.com.
