Fort Myers-based artist Marcus Jansen will be showing new works on paper during Art Basel Miami Beach this year at the same time his solo show runs in Milan, Italy at Galleria Bianca Maria Rizzi & Matthias Ritter. Titled CONTEXT Art Miami, Jansen's Art Basel exhibit at Booth E38 comes compliments of his Marfa + Dallas representation, Galleri Urbane, which gave Jansen his first successful solo show in Dallas in 2012.
Galleri Urbane represents emerging, mid-career and established artists living in the United States, with the primary focus on artists whose work reflects current art movements both national and internationally. These artists are represented in museums as well as public and private collections throughout the United States and abroad. The artists work in a variety of media including painting, sculpture, mixed media, photography, and conceptual. Among the artists represented by Galleri Urbane are Michael Berman, Theo Wujcik, Kate Carr, Kate Carr, Allie Pohl, Jessica Drenk, and, of course, Marcus Jansen.
CONTEXT along with the 24th edition of Art Miami will commence on December 3, 2013 with CONTEXT Art Miami’s highly anticipated Opening Night VIP Preview to benefit the Miami Art Museum (PAMM). The 2012 benefit preview attracted 11,000 collectors, curators, artists, connoisseurs, and designers, and the fair hosted a total of 60,000 attendees over a six-day period. This immediately reinforced the CONTEXT fair as a proven destination and serious marketplace for top collectors to acquire important and cutting edge works of art from the leading international galleries representing emerging and mid-career artists.
The combined exhibition space at CONTEXT and Art Miami covers 200,000 square feet and will accommodate an increase in the overall roster of galleries to 190 participants. Ample and convenient parking is available for both fairs through the use of a four-story parking garage with 2,000 spots located directly across the street from the CONTEXT and Art Miami Pavilions, as well as valet parking. A network of complimentary shuttle buses will run round-trip service between Art Miami, CONTEXT, Aqua Art Miami and Art Basel Miami Beach.
Art Miami is the leading international contemporary and modern art fair that takes place in Miami's Midtown Wynwood Arts District each December during Art Week. In addition, it is one of the most important annual contemporary art events in the United States, attracting more than 65,000 motivated collectors, curators, museum professionals and art enthusiasts from around the globe. Entering its 24th year, Art Miami remains committed to showcasing the most important artworks of the 20th and 21st centuries in collaboration with a selection of the world’s most respected galleries.
