Marcos Maidana dominates an outmatched Adrien Broner

Marcos Maidana earned a unanimous decision over Adrien Broner to capture the WBA welterweight title on Saturday night at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

According to the Associated Press, the 30-year-old Maidana (35-3, 31 KOs) officially trumped the 24-year-old Broner (27-1, 22 KOs) by scores of 115-110, 116-109 and 117-109.

A powerful and beloved Argentinean, Maidana outworked Broner and floored the loudmouth in the second and eighth rounds.

Maidana, who is also a past junior welterweight champion, was far more active than Broner and landed bruising punches throughout the 36-minute slugfest.

Immediately after the cards were announced, “The Problem” bolted from the stadium without making any comments.

Broner is arrogant, flamboyant and simply unlikable and he will surely concoct a host of excuses for losing.

Unfortunately for “The Problem,” Maidana exposed Broner and proved he is nothing more than a fragile blowhard.

Currently ranked as the world’s ninth premier pound-for-pounder, Broner clearly needs to return to the lightweight division.

Meanwhile, in stark contrast to Adrien Broner, Marcos Maidana is a legitimate menace who will be difficult for any prizefighter to overcome in 2014.
