Richard Petty Motorsports driver Michael Annett will have a teammate on Saturday for the Nationwide Children's Hospital 200 NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Mid-Ohio Sports Car course. One of the team's Sprint Cup Series drivers, Marcos Ambrose, will travel back and forth from Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Mich., site of Sunday's Sprint Cup race, and Mid-Ohio, to race in both events. He'll drive the No. 9 in Saturday's Nationwide race. Ambrose's Nationwide car will be practiced and qualified by Ryan Truex on Friday, while Ambrose tends to his Sprint Cup duties in Michigan.
"I think Thursday will be an important day for us to help get the car set up and get used to this track," Ambrose said. "We will really take advantage of all the time we can get and then let Ryan take over on Friday and Saturday while I take care of my responsibilities with our Stanley Ford Fusion in Michigan. I'll then fly over to Ohio and be ready to go in time for the race. We have a good plan, and now it's time to go execute it."
Saturday's Nationwide race will be the first for the series at Mid-Ohio. It will mark Ambrose's 76th-career Nationwide Series start. His previous 75 draces include four trips to victory lane, all coming at road courses.
