In the summer of 2011, mild-mannered IT whiz at Sargent & Lundy by day and socialite-philanthropist extraordinaire by night, Marco Foster decided to host his birthday party as a fundraiser for One Hope United, a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting children and strengthening families.
Four years later, the White Party has exploded onto Chicago’s social calendar as one of the premier charity events of the summer. For the second year in a row, the event is sold out to the tune of 500 guests coming out in force dressed in ever more spectacular white outfits to support One Hope’s foster care programs.
Foster explains his decision to use his birthday as a means of raising funds for these programs, recalling, “There was a time in my life when I was young and lost in the system, also known as the Department of Children and Family Services. I was adopted by a great woman, Marjorie Foster, at the age of seven. Because of this, I’m able to relate to what a foster child and parent have to deal with. Before the age of seven, I was in numerous homes, and that can take a toll on a child. That’s why I believe in what One Hope United is trying to accomplish: a safe home for every child.”
Guests can expect a see-and-be-seen crowd gathering for a special purpose: to raise valuable funds for OHU’s foster care work, helping prepare children for a prosperous future full of hope. The event has already received significant media coverage; in addition to several radio interviews, Marco was profiled on Fox news and appeared alongside One Hope United CEO, Scott Filer, on NBC mid-day news to give viewers a preview of what’s in store for Friday.
This year, The White Party is hosted by Parliament, and guests have access to not only both inside rooms of this gorgeous space, but the newly-opened Kensington Rooftop Lounge as well.
The host committee boasts some well-known local and even national celebrities: Ryan Chiaverini of ABC’s Windy City Live, Carmen Rivera from Chicago Magazine, and NBC Channel 5 Chicago Meteorologist, Alicia Roman, to name a few.
Foster always includes some special touches especially for guests purchasing tables. There are rumors of foamy light-up sticks (you’ll just have to wait and see!), an exotic car appearance, and of course, a red carpet for those all-important photo opps!
If this article is just making you sad because you don’t have a ticket, there is hope! Foster will be releasing 20 tickets at cost of $45 each precisely at 9:00AM on Friday morning. Better type fast though –this final batch will be gone in minutes, and no tickets will be sold at the door.
The White Party happens this Friday at Parliament (324 W. Chicago) from 8:00PM -10:00PM. For media inquiries, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
