Mid-March brings game shows, training clinics, vet seminars for MW equestrians

Across the Upper Midwest, equestrians are trotting off to a host of horse happenings. The third weekend of March offers game shows, hunter-jumper competitions, open horse shows, pole bending and barrel racing, tack swaps, training clinics, veterinary seminars, and more. Equine enthusiasts may even attend a model horse show.

Check out these horse lover highlights, running from Wednesday, March 12, through Sunday, March 16.

Fox Woods Equine Veterinary Care presents a horse health seminar, titled “Dentistry – More Than Just Sharp Points,” on March 12, at the Cayuse Shop, in Sauk City, Wisconsin.

In Libertyville, Illinois, Dr. Tracy Busalacci, of Elkhorn Veterinary Clinic, leads "Discussions at Dover: How Chiropractic Care Helps Your Horse” at Dover Saddlery on March 13.

Also on March 13, Jody Halladay teaches a Natural Horsemanship Workshop, titled “Building a Connection,” at Dover Stables, in Waterford, Wisconsin.

Kirkwood Community College Student Saddle Clubs have an Open Show running from March 14 to 16 at the Iowa Equestrian Center, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Circle E Equestrian Stables, of Seymour, Wisconsin, offers a clinic with Ellie Jensen Neerdaels on March 15 and 16, focusing on Obstacles Challenges, Patterns, Horsemanship, and Games.

A Leslie Law Eventing Clinic is set for March 15 and 16 at Benchmark Stables, in Hampshire, Illinois.

A Rider Biomechanics Seminar with Maryal Barnett takes place March 15 at the Washington County Fairgrounds, in West Bend, Wisconsin, and March 16 at Barry Ridge Equestrian Center, in Germantown, Wisconsin.

Coyote Creek Stables holds an Open Arena, Poles, and Barrels event on March 15 in Sigel, Illinois.

Model horse fans have a Great Lakes Congress No Frills Live Show on March 15 at the Huntley Park District, in Huntley, Illinois.

In Custer, Wisconsin, the Heartland Stables Beat the Blues Winter Series continues with a March 15 open horse show.

Also on March 15, Hi Circle Vee Ranch welcomes riders to a Western Saddle Clubs Association (WSCA) Qualifying Game Show in Isanti, Minnesota.

A Horsey Spa Day and Tack Swap runs March 15 at Premier Sales, in Withee, Wisconsin.

In Clintonville, Wisconsin, NAHH Tackaway has a Coggins Day on March 15.

On March, 15, the Paws & Hooves 4-H Club Tack Sale goes on at the McHenry County Fairgrounds, in Woodstock, Illinois.

Horn Brothers holds a March 16 Horse Owners Workshop at West 20 Ranch and Saddle Company, in East Troy, Wisconsin.

The Huntermark Farm Winter Series adds a March 16 show in Coal Valley, Illinois.

In Dodgeville, Wisconsin, the Iowa County 4-H Horse Project Tack Sale and Food Drive is open March 16 at the Iowa County Health and Human Service Building.

Certain equestrian events may require advance registrations.
