March full of madness: upcoming performing arts events

Here are the highlighted must-see March events, hosted at Mahalia Jackson Theatre:

FLASHDANCE – the Broadway series continues March 1-3. Showtimes are at 8pm Friday and Saturday, 2pm Saturday and Sunday, with curtains closing 7:30pm on Sunday.

WICKED comes to town this May, but it's a "Popular" show, so purchase tickets to reserve your spot in Oz early. Tickets go on sale 8 March. Prices will vary, and increase closer to the event run.

The Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra holds a performance featuring Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 on Saturday, 9 March. Show starts at 8pm.

Samson and Delilah, presented by the New Orleans Opera Association, has two performances scheduled at Mahalia Jackson. Friday, 15 March at 8pm. And a matinee on Sunday, 17 March at 2:30pm.

Yo Gabba Gabba! Live! Get the Sillies Out! guarantees to relieve some stress for the whole family. Two performances, held on Monday, 18 March, at 3 and 6pm, are on sale now.

Jim Gaffigan: the White Bread Tour comedy act is set up for Tuesday, 19 March at 7pm.

The New Orleans Ballet Association entertains with the Martha Graham Dance Company on Saturday, 23 March. Show starts at 8pm.

Pajanimals Live: Pajama Playdate. First time ever! Jim Henson's Pajanimals are touring live across the nation. The playdate features Squacky, Sweetpea Sue, Cowbella, and Apollo. The two-act show also allows lots of audience participation time. Wednesday, 27 March at 6pm.

Leonard Cohen's 'Old Ideas World Tour. Master songwriter, musician, and poet joins the stage for a night of original and inspiring work. Cohen's leap to the industry's forefront happened in the 60's, but his presence there hasn't waned. Tickets on sale now for Thursday, 28 March at 8pm.
