Several important cat events are coming up in Portland, Maine.
On March 10th, H.A.R.T. will host Rescues on the Runway at the Maine Mall in South Portland, Maine from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (the "show" will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.).
The Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland is offering Feline Foster Orientation on March 11th at 2 p.m. Please RSVP to aeagan@arlgp.org. Feline Foster Orientation relates to the upcoming "kitten season." In her Guide to Rescue Cats, Sue Freeman states that kittens are usually born at three times of the year: early spring, mid-summer, and early fall. They become adoptable in late spring (April/May), late summer (July/August) and mid-fall (October/November).
Although Ms. Freeman's guide refers to Southern California, her information does apply to Maine! Kitten season is upon us, and some kittens will need foster parents before they can be put up for adoption at 8-10 weeks.
The Friends of Feral Felines will be fundraising March 17th and 18th at the Petco in South Portland.
On March 17th, Animal Medical Associates of Saco will be holding a Rabies Vaccination Clinic at Pet Life in Saco from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Bring $12 in cash and previous records (if applicable) and get Fluffy or Fido vaccinated!
As always, the Children's Museum of Maine will be holding Animal Fun with the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland on the third Thursday (March 15th, 11:30 a.m.) and Pets and More with the Animal Welfare Society of Kennebunk on the third Saturday (March 17th, 10:30 a.m.).
