March 4th high of 88 degrees tied record at DFW (Photos)

A surge of dry and warm air on March 4th brought May temperatures to the Dallas area a couple of months early.

The maximum temperature of 88 degrees tied the 1955 record for the date, and was more than 20 degrees above the average high temperature of 65 for the date.

On a broader temperature note, the winter of 2012-2013 was the 11th warmest on record for the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and the projections through the rest of spring 2013 suggest warmer and drier than normal conditions are in the cards for north Texas. This is anything but good news as most of north Texas remains in a moderate to severe drought condition.
