March 23: Launchpad unsheathes The Sword and guest

On March 23 Albuquerque’s own Launchpad hosts The Sword and O’Brother. Doors for this all-ages show are scheduled to open at 7 p.m., with the first band taking the stage at 8 p.m. Entry is $20 but is subject to change at the door.

Hailing from Texas, The Sword play doom metal or what they like to call “warlock rock.” The band’s latest full-length studio CD is titled Apocryphon.

Georgia’s O’Brother play experimental and ambient metal. The band notes, “We’ve always had a tendency to stray from the beaten path, but to us, it’s okay to think a little differently, as long as your motives are positive.” O’Brother’s latest full-length studio CD is titled Disillusion.

Around since 1997, Albuquerque’s Launchpad has played host to bands of numerous genres, including punk, indie rock, and metal. The Launchpad is located on 618 Central Avenue Southwest, which is between 6th and 7th streets.
