March 23, 2010 DVD & Blu-ray: 'Toy Story' and 'Toy Story 2' (coupons/best price/exclusives) part 1

To infinity and beyond! In celebration of the new Toy Story 3 release coming to theaters on June 18, 2010, Toy Story and Toy Story 2 are re-released yet again on DVD and comes for the first time to Blu-ray. In an effort by Disney to entice previous DVD owners to re-purchase the Special Edition, the Blu-ray Combo Pack will include both the DVD and the Blu-ray discs inside each movie package.

Current DVD owners can purchase the DVD case size Blu-ray Combo Pack to future-proof their purchase when they are ready to upgrade to Blu-ray. Current Blu-ray owners can purchase the Blu-ray case size Blu-ray Combo Pack and use the DVD during roadtrips with the children on the car DVD player.

Toy Story

It is Andy's (John Morris) last birthday prior to moving to a new house. Woody the cowboy (Tim Allen) and his friends send the Army Sergeant (R. Lee Ermey) and the Army Men on a reconnaissance mission to see what new toys Andy will receive. Mr. Potato Head (Don Rickles) hopes for a Mrs. Potato Head. Rex the dinosaur (Wallace Shawn) worries that Andy will receive another dinosaur. Woody is nervous that his prized position as Andy's favorite toy will be relinquished to a new toy. Andy receives the new toy Buzz Lightyear the spaceman (Tom Hanks) and Woody's deepest fear comes true when Buzz becomes Andy's new favorite toy.

Overcome with jealousy Woody makes many failed attempts to get rid of Buzz. When Buzz attempts to get revenge on Woody by following him and Andy on a trip to Pizza Planet, they end up fighting and separate from Andy. They get captured by the boy next door, Sid (Erik von Detten), the toy destroyer. They need to escape before Sid rips them apart. Setting aside their differences, they work together to get out before they miss Andy's moving day and get left behind permanently.

Director John Lasseter won a special achievement Academy Award and Randy Newman had an Oscar nomination for the musical score.
