Is this your vineyard?

Looks again like a wonderful line-up of wine tasting options. Check out your usual haunts, and then consider any options you might find elsewhere in the list. Two wine shops have yet to send their emails, or post to their website. Each is reliable, so check back be fore you go out. Here are some videos of use, to some… maybe.

”Olivier Rochelois of Petit Monde Imports will be pouring selections from France:

”Domaine de Chiroulet, Terres Blanches, Cotes de Gascogne, 2011 $11.99

While the grapes that make up this blend (Gros Manseng, Ugni Blanc, Sauv Blanc) may not be the most familiar, the quality, flavor, and freshness in this wine will surprise you for it's accessibility. This bottle from southwestern France is lively, bright, with lots of acidity.

”Chateau de Breze, Rosé of Cabernet Franc, Saumur, 2012, $15.99

While many may limit their rosé consumption to the days where the temperature is above 80, this rosé may change that protocol. 100% Cabernet Franc, from organically farmed, centuries old estate in the Loire Valley. The wine has weight and structure, without being fruit forward and overly ripe. It has the perfect balance of weight to acidity that allow it to pair perfectly with fall flavors and comfort cuisine.

”Domaine de L'Idylle, Mondeuse, Savoie, 2012 $16.99

Mondeuse is a red grape that is indigenous to the Savoie in eastern France. This wine will surely make you a believer in its merits as it is medium bodied, clean and compelling. Plenty of fruit and spice, without being heavy or rich. It's unique, it's well made, and it's thoroughly enjoyable!

”Domaine de Brin, "Petit Brin", Gaillac, 2011 $13.99

Produced by the 26 yr old winemaking protégé Damien Bonnet, this wine is a great introduction to the reds of southwestern France, specifically Gaillac. The estate grown, organically farmed fruit yields a wine that is rich and lively, opulent and expressive. Based on Merlot, but blended with indigenous varieties Braucol and Duras, this is a unique wine and exceptional value.

”Jean Louis Denois, "Les Garrigues", Languedoc, 2011 $10.99

Meet your new everyday red wine. From Southwestern France, Denois produces this full bodied, balanced blend of a little bit of everything on his estate. The blend is dominated by Syrah and Merlot, but small bits of Cab Sauv, Cab Franc, and Grenache make their way into the mix. For the price you'd be hard pressed to find a bottle that delivers more quality and wine from anywhere, not just France.

”Chateau Lafond, Canon-Fronsac, Bordeaux 2010 $17.99

”This wine exemplifies Merlot based, right bank Bordeaux at it's finest, yet for a fraction of the price point of more renowned estates. Fromt the multi generational team of the Courneaud family comes this stellar offering from one of the best vintages Bordeaux has seen in a bit. Traditionally farmed and vinified, the blend of Merlot and Cab Franc offers lots of rich dark fruit, but also plenty of acidity and tannin that provide the structure and backbone of this well balanced offering.

”And there may be a mystery wine at Dave's desk...”

“Description2012 Random Wine Company Tempranillo: $18.75 wholesale 2012 Random Wine Company Petit Verdot $20.00 wholesale About Beau... "New York City, 1983, I was born. I spent some time there before moving (with my family) to San Diego, where I grew up. I worked in wine retail and hospitality for about 15 years, which also taught me a great deal, like what people drink. To this day I still work for a distributor in the Portland Metro area, selling some wine but mostly craft beer. It pays the bills.Random Wine Company was born of my experiences during harvest 2011, where I worked at Kramer Vineyards as their intern. In 2012 I bought some tempranillo and petit verdot grapes from Washington, launching Random Wine Company. My goal is simple, to showcase the great grapes we have here in the Pacific Northwest while doing something a little bit different from most people. For example, at Random Wine Company we strive to avoid using new oak barrels, employ various percentages of whole-cluster fermentations, and work with somewhat obscure varieties."

Gemoli 2009 Bolgheri Superiore
100 points Wine Enthusiast

"This small, family-run estate in the heart of Bolgheri has delivered a wine so beautiful and elegant, it is catapulted to the level of landmark vintages of its celebrated neighbors, Sassicaia and Ornellaia. Inky concentration sets the stage for generous, but perfectly integrated, aromas of spice, chocolate and dark fruit. There's firm roundness in the mouth, followed by unforgettable persistence. Hold this wine 15 years or more. " (4/ 2013)
