On March 16th, the 7th annual Santa Monica Airport Art Walk takes place from noon till 5:00 pm. Nick Busco and Scott Tansey are two featured photographers participating in the event.
Los Angeles photographer Nick Busco has been taking photos as long as he can remember. He has had the chance to shoot rock icons such as Freddie Mercury, Tom Petty, James Taylor, Rod Stewart and more. He spent years on the road as part of the road crew and captured renowned artists, on stage, true to classic rock form.
Nick attended the opening reception for the group show at the Santa Monica Studios, which was held on February 23rd. He admits he was very impressed with the other art work featured in the show, explaining, “It was a great exhibit with a wide variety of work to absorb and enjoy.”
He currently has a photo of Freddy Mercury on view. He spoke to many interested art lovers and rock fans that night. “People really love the shot of Freddie and were interested in hearing a story or two,” muses Busco. Landscape photographer, Scott Tansey was also inspired to take photos from a young age. His entire family loved photography. He remembers, “I was inspired my brother's first photos from his European vacation.” By the time he was in his 20s, he started exhibiting his work and then became interested in panoramic photography. He continues, “I believe that most important tool in photography is the photographer’s vision.”
He has traveled all over the world and captured breathtaking views. He has also taken two traveling photographic workshops. “The first was a photographic tour down the Green and Colorado River with John Sexton and Phillip Hyde, and the 2nd was a photographic workshop in Alaska with Robert Glen Ketchum,” says Tansey. "However the best workshop was the Advanced Printing Workshop taught by John Paul Caponigro last summer." Otherwise the article is fine. The Santa Monica Airport Art Walk will be held on Saturday, March 16th from noon to 5:00 p.m. at the Santa Monica Art Studios (3026 Airport Avenue, Santa Monica 90405)
Also on view in Arena 1 Gallery is the political poster exhibit, "Decade of Dissent: Democracy in Action, 1965–1975." The group show spotlights California activism and is organized by the Center for the Study of Political Graphics.
