According to Cinema Blend on Feb. 3, "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" director Marc Webb tweeted about B.J. Novak's new book and revealed the identity of his character in the sequel. Almost a year ago in March, Webb did mention Novak's involvement in the film, but now a name, A. Smythe or Alistair Smythe, has been made known via Twitter.

The book in question that Webb was promoting went by the name of "One More Thing". Mindy Kaling also starred in the comic trailer to his publication and it seemed to spoof scoffed at American publications. Novak attempted to sell himself to Kaling's character when she broke out of character and launching into a "The Office" bit.

For those who are not familiar with the Smythe character, this villainous character had developed technology known as the Spider Slayers. They were basically created by Smythe to seek out and destroy Spider-Man. He also was known to alter his body with the use of cybernetics and biological means since he initially had no use of his legs.

"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" will be opening in theaters on May 2.
