For this year's resort collection, Marc Jacobs has created simple, functional handbags that can easily fit into the current vintage trends while playing into the classic, lady bag trend from Fall.
Marc Jacobs resort handbag collection features a large line of shoulder bags, cross-body totes and clutches that make an easy transition from Fall into the upcoming Spring fashion season. Marc Jacobs is featuring neutral leathers, linen and raffia basket-weave with a few yellow accents and pale blue pieces. The color palette that Marc Jacobs chose for his resort handbag collection can be paired with the minimalism trend, 1960's trend, 1970's trend and the ongoing ladylike or feminine trend.
Marc Jacobs leather handbags for resort are shoulder bags, clutches and satchels. The flaps are geometric with contrasting leather borders. Marc Jacobs also updated Fall's messenger bag trend with north/south cross-body totes in solid linen as well as whimsical patterned linen. The linen handbag collection that Marc Jacobs created is in neutral colors and features window pane embroidery; adding a twist to the current lady bag trend. Marc Jacobs is also playing into the resort handbag trend of convertible totes. Many of Marc Jacobs resort handbag styles feature double top handles with a detachable shoulder strap or cross-body strap.
Embellishments on Marc Jacobs resort line are a new feature that Fashionistas normally associate with handbag designers such as Kate Spade, rather than Marc Jacobs. The large flower brooches that are strategically placed on many of Marc Jacobs resort handbags, totes and satchels add a fresh twist to the extremely simple handbags designers have been showing for resort.
Marc Jacobs Spring runway show will happen next week during New York Fashion Week. It should be interesting to see if Marc Jacobs continues with flower brooches and simple lines or if he takes a turn in a different direction. Since resort is usually a snapshot into Spring, many Fashionistas are looking forward to seeing Marc Jacobs carry his resort designs into Spring with possible updates to the color story.
