Marc Jacobs showed his fall/winter 2012/2013 collection last night at New York Fashion Week and gave the fashion world a glimpse into a fantasy dreamland. Marc Jacobs sent models down the catwalk wearing oversized, furry, misshapen hats amid a dreamy baby blue backdrop. The designs combined chunky knits, turn-of-the 20th century hemlines and shoes as well as exotic handbags with unstructured silhouettes and a mix of colors.
The unstructured and disheveled apparel on the Marc Jacobs fall 2012 runway offered a surprising contrast to the classic, exotic skinned handbag collection the New York designer presented for the cool weather season. Among the layers of wool, chunky knits, vintage fur and heavy coats, models carried top handle satchels and soft clutches which were timeless.
Marc Jacobs showed classic top handle satchels for fall 2012 on his New York Fashion Week runway in vivid colors and exotic skins such as ostrich. The color palette was vibrant and included red, yellow, light tan and classic black. In addition to exotic leather, Marc Jacobs also showed his satchel collection in chocolate brown fur with a vintage, worn look.
One of the hottest trends for fall 2012, which is continuing from spring 2012, is the daytime clutch. Marc Jacobs presented his version of the daytime clutch for fall in ice blue ostrich skin. The clutch was large, soft and floppy, yet exuded a timeless and sophisticated vibe due to the luxurious nature of the exotic skin.
Marc Jacobs’s fall/winter 2012/2013 collection was unlike any other designer’s line shown thus far during New York Fashion Week. The collection was fresh and evoked a vintage yet whimsical vibe which transcended the current trends for fall.
