Marc Jacobs Fall 2012 tribute to My Fair Lady?

Atlanta fashionistas, Marc Jacobs Fall 2012 Valentine’s Day poster girl wore a luscious ruby red dress festooned with flowers around the yoke, carrying a long-stem deep red rose, accessorizing with a black fur stole and that large, wide brimmed fur hat, Eliza Doolittle style, right out of My Fair Lady!

In fact most of the Marc Jacobs Fall 2012 collection features retro styles right out of the late 1920’s and 1930’s rather than the turn-of-the-century Edwardian style of Eliza Doolittle, but nevertheless topped off by the larger-than-life wide-brimmed hats as Audrey Hepburn as Eliza might have worn, all in the spirit of vintage fashions.

Something else about the models who paraded the Marc Jacobs Fall 2012 collection, they wore these amazing loafers with jeweled Puritan buckles.  The come in black (like the pair Marc Jacobs himself wore with his kilt), white, metallic pink and probably many other colors…

Jacobs pairs his vintage looks with Capri pants, paisley tulip skirts, jumpers (the pinafore type!) and shirts with Peter Pan collars, accessorizing with those ever-present floppy fur hats and buckle flats.

Enjoy the slide show I’ve put together for Marc Jacobs Fall 2012 and find your favorites looks from the 20’s and 30’s, with a modern spin that only Marc Jacobs can provide…
