Latin, pop sensation Marc Anthony will be in Miami for two nights performing live at the American Airlines Arena (AAA). He was originally booked to perform only one night, but high demand resulted in a second show. So, if you are one of his millions of fans, buy your tickets now while seats are still available. Marc Anthony records songs in both English and Spanish. Raised in Spanish Harlem in New York City, he was born in September 1968 to Puerto Rican parents who named him after singing sensation Marcos Antonio Muñiz. He began his career as a background vocalist and producer. He later changed his name to avoid being mistaken for the singer for which he was named.
He has since become one of the most popular Latin artists of our time. He has won five Grammys and released at least a dozen albums. His latest album Iconos, released May 25, 2010, was an instant success. It made history within one week. The album, which includes eight songs by vocalists Marc Anthony admires, premiered at the No. 1 spot for Billboard’s Top Latino albums and also premiered at the No. 11 slot on Billboard’s Top 200 albums. The single ‘Y Cómo Es El’ remains a hit on iTunes in Spain and Mexico.
Marc Anthony released his first English-language pop album under Sony’s record label in 1999. The album which is entitled I Need to Know gave Anthony several hits including the singles ‘I Need to Know,’ ‘When I Dream at Night,’ ‘My Baby You,’ and ‘You Sang to Me.’
Today Marc Anthony is a singer, songwriter, producer, actor and minority owner of The Miami Dolphins football team. He is currently married to singer/actress Jennifer Lopez with whom he has two children, fraternal twins Emme and Maximillan. He has two sons, Cristian and Ryan, with ex-wife and former Miss Universe, Dayanara Torres and a daughter, Ariana, with ex-girlfriend Debbie Rosado.
He has starred in movies such as Man on Fire with Denzel Washington, Dakota Fanning, Christopher Walken and Rada Mitchell, El Cantante with wife Jennifer Lopez. His most recent acting gig is a two-episode stint on TNT’s Hawthorne, a prime-time drama starring Jada Pinkett-Smith and Michael Vartan.
