Marc Anthony, actor, record producer, singer-songwriter, fashion designer, television producer, top selling tropical salsa artist of all time and ex-husband to former wives former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres and superstar Jennifer Lopez, was ordered by a judge on June 12 to increase his monthly child support payments to Torres from $14,400 to $26,800. Anthony and Torres have two children together, Christian and Ryan.
The Daily News reported that Torres had originally asked the court to increase her child support payments to a whopping $123,426 a month; so all things considered, Anthony made out pretty good regarding the court order that came down on Thursday. During the course of the family court hearing, Torres told the judge that Anthony has been neglecting his two sons and only saw them for a total of 35 days throughout 2013. The Latin singer disputed those numbers. Court papers state that Anthony had custody of Christian and Ryan for a total of 71 days in 2012.
Torres requested that amount be raised to $123,426 a month in November 2013, citing lifestyle changes, in addition to child support needs. Part of the ten-fold child support increase included the need for a nanny and housekeeper, which would cost Torres up to $7,000 a month. ~ Yahoo! News
In addition to monthly child support, the couple’s original divorce settlement awarded Torres a vacation budget, two automobiles, and the couple’s former family home in Florida. Anthony and Torres were married in Las Vegas on May 9, 2000.
The couple experienced a rocky married road from the very beginning and separated by 2002. Although they later reconciled and renewed their vows, Torres filed for divorce by 2004. Less than one week after his divorce to Torres was finalized, Anthony married singer- actress and current “American Idol” judge Jennifer Lopez on June 5, 2004.
In addition to the doubling of Torres’ monthly child support payments, the judge also ordered Anthony to increase his former wife’s annual vacation budget from $6,000 to $12,000, according to TMZ. TMZ went on to report that Anthony has been donating $25,000 monthly to charity – the approximate equivalent to what he now has to give his ex. “As they say ... charity begins at home,” quipped the celebrity website.
