In April the first Maestro Cares Foundation orphanage was inaugurated, earlier today renowned salsa singer Marc Anthony and entrepreneur Henry Cardenas were in Barranquilla, Colombia for the ground breaking ceremony for their second orphanage, Hogar de Paso. Hogar de Paso will be completed by February 2015 when Marc Anthony returns to Barranquilla for its Carnaval.
Hogar de Paso will be home to about 200 homeless children, where the boys will live in one building and the girls will live in the other. It will essentially have the same layout as the first orphanage, Niños de Cristo, built in La Romana Dominican Republic: a health clinic, playground, baseball field, school. A home, education and health care for the children to have a better environment to grow, learn, and be happy.
With the collaboration and assistance of Maestro Cares Foundation, Tecnoglass Foundation, Pacific Rubiales Foundation and Barranquilla's Mayor Elsa Noguera, Hogar de Paso will be built by mentioned date. Mayor Noguera donated the land in Ciudad Verde. "We are convinced this home will transform the lives of many children that will receive attention, sow in them the fundamentals necessary to be youths with purpose and families that contribute to the improvement of our society," said Mayor Noguera.
Marc Anthony who has two concerts in Colombia this weekend sang acapella a short verse of his hit single "Vivir Mi Vida" and also stated, "It's a great honor to be able to put this second Hogar de Paso Maestro Cares in Barranquilla, you can always count on me."
Last year during Marc Anthony's Vivir Mi Vida tour, fundraisers were held at select venues where many volunteers assisted in raising funds for Maestro Cares Foundation. It was fulfilling and heartwarming to be a part of such a worthy foundation where fans united to make a better life for our future, our children.
Maestro Cares Foundation was launched in January 2012 by Marc Anthony and Henry Cardenas to improve the quality of life for orphaned children throughout Latin America. Maestro Cares works to achieve their mission by providing housing, classrooms, health clinics, dining and recreational activities.
