Wednesday, October 2, 2013 in the early evening, Grand Strand runner Misty White was struck by a car in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina as she was crossing a street. White sustained a broken pelvis, wrist and bones in her back. She was running with her boyfriend at the time of the accident. It is reported that White did not have the right of way and there were no charges expected to be filed. As White was crossing the street one car stopped for her but another did not see her. A police car was in the line of traffic and the officer saw the accident occur.
Misty White was one of 12 local runners from South Carolina running in the Boston Marathon when the bombing occurred at the finish line but none of the we were injured.
White is a member of the Grand Strand Runners Club and the Wilmington Road Runners Club. She was training to run in the Myrtle Beach Mini Marathon and the Georgetown Bridge 2 Bridge Run which is scheduled for the week of October 7, 2013. White would have been running to defend her title in the Bridge 2 Bridge Run.
