Anthony Wollweber of Marathon, Fla., was arrested Saturday in a shopping center parking lot for allegedly kicking his ten-month-old puppy in the face reported cbslocal.com.

Witnesses told the Monroe County Sheriff's Department deputies Wollweber had dragged the brown pit bull by a chain and kicked the young dog in the face. When authorities arrived, the dog was laying down, tail tucked, and cowering in fear.

When interviewed by Deputies Chuck Kellenberger and Rosary Ponce, Wollweber stated the dog had lapped up some seawater and had vomited and defecated all over himself. Wollweber stated he had brought the dog to a convenience store where he was hosing the dog off, but the dog had not been cooperative. That's when he admitted that he kicked the dog "but not hard."

The dog was taken to Safe Harbor Animal Rescue of the Keys. There has been no information released about the dog's future.
