Renown stunt coordinator and second unit film director Dan Bradley makes his directorial debut in the American war film Red Dawn, written by Jeremy Passmore and Carl Ellsworth. Based on the 1984 film of the same name starring Patrick Swayze and C. Thomas Howell, the remake stars Chris Hemsworth, Josh Peck, Josh Hutcherson, Adrianne Palicki, Isabel Lucas and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
Set in Spokane, Washington, the locals awaken to the sight of their hometown being invaded by North Korean paratroopers dropping from the sky. US Marine Jed Eckert, home on leave, and his football player brother Matt witness the shocking events and are told by their father, Police Sergeant Tom Eckert, to flee to their cabin in the woods while he helps the townspeople. There, Jed and Matt are joined by several other equally confused local teens.
As the citizens, including Jed and Matt’s father and the town’s mayor, find themselves prisoners and the town under enemy occupation, the teens are left to fend for themselves. When Eckert refuses to cooperate and gets killed, his final words advise the teens to resist. Finding refuge in the surrounding woods, the young patriots set about recruiting others -- training and reorganizing themselves into a guerrilla group of fighters called Wolverines after their high school mascot. Joined by three other marines, they plot and wage an all-out war to take back their town and their freedom.
