Mar 19 2013, What to watch: 'Splash', Justin Timberlake, 'Cougar Town', more

For Tuesday, March 19th 2013 LA TV Insider Examiner recommends:

Splash (ABC, 8 p.m.) – “Episode 101” – In the series premiere, after weeks of training with professional divers and being mentored by the world's most decorated and medaled diving legend, Greg Louganis, five of the ten celebrity contestants will face their fears as they flip, twist and spin into the depths of the pool below. The two with the lowest scores will go head to head in a dive-off to determine who will be the first contestant sent home.

Target Presents the IHeartRadio Album Release Party with Justin Timberlake (The CW, 8 p.m.) – Justin Timberlake performs at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles and talks about his new album.

The Mindy Project (FOX, 9:30 p.m.) – “Mindy’s Birthday” – Mindy (Mindy Kaling) has a terrible birthday when her friends and coworkers screw up her party, she gets into a fight with new revelers, and Danny (Chris Messina) and Jeremy (Ed Weeks) have their eyes on one of her friends.

Smash (NBC, 10 p.m.) – “Musical Chairs” – New circumstances give rise to conflicts as Karen (Katharine McPhee), Tom (Christian Borle), Julia (Debra Messing), and Derek (Jack Davenport) adjust to their new surroundings. Tensions at “Liaisons” are also coming to a boil, ensuring that the show will find its place in Broadway history. Meanwhile, Eileen (Anjelica Huston) may have found the key to saving “Bombshell” with the help of her daughter, Katie (guest star Grace Gummer).

Cougar Town (TBS, 10 p.m.) – “Saving Grace” – The cul-de-sac crew joins a dodgeball league, where Andy (Ian Gomez) sparks a dispute with a group of pre-adolescents, while Grayson (Josh Hopkins) sparks a religious debate when he sighs during Jules’ (Courteney Cox) prayer, and Bobby (Brian Van Holt) finds a new tomboy boyfriend.
