From Kathryn Bigelow, the Academy Award-winning writer and director of The Hurt Locker, comes the historical drama film Zero Dark Thirty, which she directed and co-produced from a screenplay written by Mark Boal. It stars Jessica Chastain, Jason Clarke, Joel Edgerton, Chris Pratt, Jennifer Ehle, Mark Strong, Kyle Chandler and Édgar Ramírez. The film earned five Academy Award nominations including Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay and Best Actress for Chastain -- who already won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress -- and won an Oscar for Best Sound Editing.
Zero Dark Thirty tells the historic pursuit to find and eliminate the world’s most dangerous man, Osama bin Laden -- the leader of terrorist organization al-Qaeda who was responsible for the September 11 attacks. For a decade young CIA officer Maya and an elite team of intelligence and military operatives work in secret to gather intel by sifting through massive amounts of data and interrogating detainees -- sometimes resorting to torture. They are finally rewarded for their prolonged dedication to the mission when they find and track bin Laden’s personal courier to a suburban compound in Pakistan. The U.S. Navy SEAL Team 6 are sent to raid the compound and successfully locate and kill bin Laden, ending the greatest manhunt in history.
DVD and Blu-ray special features include four featurettes. “No Small Feat” looks at the making of Zero Dark Thirty. “The Compound” gives a tour of the film’s rebuilt compound. “Geared Up” shows the cast training with authentic SEAL. gear. “Targeting Jessica Chastain” looks at the role of Maya.
