From the directors Will Speck and Josh Gordon of Blades of Glory (2007) come the new comedy film The Switch starring Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman. It is based on the short story Baster by Jeffrey Eugenides. Kassie Larson wants a baby, but still has not found the right man to start a family with. Tired of waiting, she decides to do it alone with handsome and charming sperm donor Roland. Her neurotic best friend Wally Mars objects because he has feelings for her, but has never told her. His friend Leonard thinks Wally waited too long and now has been put in the “friend zone.”

Kassie throws an “insemination party” and the highlight of the night is Roland will go to the bathroom and produce his sperm. A drunk Wally ends up in the bathroom afterward and sees Roland’s sperm in the plastic container. He has an accident and ends up swapping the sperm with his own, but has no memory of it the next day.

Fast forward seven years later, Kassie had left New York because it is no place to raise a baby, but now has returned. Wally meets her son Sebastian, who is a miniature neurotic version of Wally. As Wally and Sebastian bond and find they have much in common, Wally starts to wonder about that drunken night at Kassie’s insemination party. Ready to finally confess his feelings for Kassie, the only thing stopping him is Roland, who wants to have a relationship with Kassie and Sebastian too.

Will Wally be able to find the courage to tell Kassie the truth about Sebastian and express the feelings he has harbored all these years? Will Kassie feel the same way about Wally and end their tale on a happily ever after note?
