Mar 13 2013, What to watch: 'American Idol', 'The Soup', 'Southland', more

For Wednesday, March 13th 2013 LA TV Insider Examiner recommends:

American Idol (FOX, 8 p.m.) – “Finalists Compete” – We’re finally down to the Top 12, and those contenders take the stage live from Los Angeles for America’s votes and praise from judges Randy Jackson, Keith Urban, Mariah Carey, and Nicki Minaj.

The Neighbors (ABC, 8:30 p.m.) – “Sing Like A Larry Bird” – In this special musical episode, increasingly comfortable exploring the world outside of their gated community, the Bird-Kersees ignore the Weavers' concerns and decide to go to into the city to see a Broadway show. Inspired by the experience, Larry (Simon Templeton) decides to put on a musical of his own, which goes well until Dick (Ian Patrick) literally missteps. Instead of going to Marty (Lenny Venito) and Debbie (Jami Gertz) for help (as they have done many times before), the Bird-Kersees risk exposing their true identities when they call 9-1-1.

It’s a Brad, Brad World (Bravo, 10 p.m.) – “One Client, Two Calls” – With New York Fashion Week in full swing, Brad styles new client, supermodel Petra Nemcova, for the Diesel Black Gold Fashion Show. Thrilled with her look, Petra hires Brad the next day for a styling emergency that needs immediate attention. In the middle of pulling vintage dresses and attending Christian Siriano’s runway show, Brad’s assistant Thomas fails to deliver a gown to a very important client, leading Brad to make some tough decisions.

The Soup (E!, 10 p.m.) – Host Joel McHale poke fun at the week’s happenings in pop culture, especially reality TV.

Southland (TNT, 10 p.m.) – “Off Duty” – John (Michael Cudlitz) considers the life he’ll have after he leaves the LAPD, while Lydia (Regina King) bonds with someone she sent to death row, and Sammy (Shawn Hatosy) becomes a tabloid celebrity in the wake of a heroic act. Meanwhile, Ben (Ben McKenzie) makes a questionable decision while tracking a drug dealer.
