For Tuesday, March 12th 2013 LA TV Insider Examiner recommends:
Hell’s Kitchen (FOX, 8 p.m.) – “20 Chefs Compete” – For the first time in the history of the show, the latest batch of 20 aspiring restaurateurs head to Las Vegas to present their signature dishes before Chef Ramsey and a live audience. The contestants will split into two teams to prove they have what it takes to win a life-changing grand prize: a head chef position working under Executive Chef Jeremy Berlin at Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill at Caesars Palace. The winning team with the most impressive dishes will earn a VIP night on the town and attend a special concert, while the losing team will make the long journey back to Los Angeles on a school bus
The Lying Game (ABC Family, 9 p.m.) – “To Lie For” – The charity gala takes a somber turn as everyone honors the memory of a loved one. Dan (Tyler Christopher) issues Ethan (Blair Redford) an ultimatum that has heartbreaking consequences. Emma (Alexandra Chando) finally confronts Rebecca (Charisma Carpenter) about her lost childhood. Ted (Andy Buckley) tries to find the right way to tell Kristin (Helen Slater) about another secret from his past. Meanwhile, an unexpected twist brings the fundraiser to a crashing halt.
Body of Proof (ABC, 10 p.m.) – "Mob Mentality" – When the son of a New York mob boss is found shot to death in an alley, Tommy (Mark Valley), Adam (Elyes Gabel), and Megan (Dana Delany) investigate, only to be shot at themselves. Back in the morgue, the mobster threatens that he will make sure whoever killed his son won't live to see another sunrise. When an early suspect is gunned down, Megan and her team realize they have to solve the case before more bodies pile up.
Smash (NBC, 10 p.m.) – “The Fringe” – Derek (Jack Davenport) and Karen (Katharine McPhee) find themselves at a surprising crossroads, forcing one of them to make a difficult choice. Jerry’s (guest star Michael Cristofer) uneasy partnership with Eileen (Anjelica Huston) hits a snag, as does “Hit List’s” first performance at the Fringe Festival. Meanwhile, Ivy’s (Megan Hilty) last-ditch effort to save her and Terry’s (guest star Sean Hayes) show has unexpected results.
Cougar Town (TBS, 10 p.m.) – “You Tell Me” – Bobby (Brian Van Holt) has a fling with a woman he met at a superstore, while Jules (Courteney Cox) spends time with her therapist after realizing her friends have been keeping secrets. Laurie (Busy Philipps) discovers a passion for destruction over mixed feelings for Travis (Dan Byrd), and her skill at it causes mayor Andy (Ian Gomez) to have to intervene.
