Just in time for Easter, DreamWorks Animation and the creators of How to Train Your Dragon bring you the magical and critically-acclaimed animated adventure film Rise of the Guardians directed by Peter Ramsey. Based on William Joyce's The Guardians of Childhood book series and The Man in the Moon short film by Joyce and Reel FX, it features an all-star cast of voice talent including Chris Pine, Alec Baldwin, Hugh Jackman, Isla Fisher and Jude Law. It received a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Animated Film.
When Pitch the Boogeyman threatens to take over the world by instilling fear in children, the legendary guardians -- Easter Bunny, Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy and Sandman -- must join forces for the first time to protect the children’s hopes, dreams and imaginations. Jack Frost is invited to be the newest guardian to aid in the fight, but he declines because he feels the children do not believe in him, unlike the other guardians. However after some persuasion, he agrees to help their mission to stop Pitch from engulfing the world in darkness.
As the Jack and the guardians try to stop Pitch’s maniacal plan, they find they are too late when the children’s belief in each guardian begins to fade. With the guardian’s spirits broken, all seems lost until the belief of one young boy and Jack’s newfound faith help the guardians to rise again to defeat Pitch and protect children’s innocence.
DVD, Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D special features include filmmakers’ commentary and two featurettes. “Dreamers and Believers takes a look at the cast and characters of Rise of the Guardians. In “Sandy's Dream Guide,” the Sandman helps interpret your dreams in the interactive guide. Plus there is more Easter magic with printable egg holders, coloring sheets and more. In “The Man Behind the Guardians,” learn how DreamWorks Animation worked with author William Joyce to bring his novels to life. Exclusively on Blu-ray 3D is the feature film in 3D.
