Just as we begin to wonder how much longer winter is going to be hanging out in New England, the folks at Lamothe's Sugar House in Burlington are looking forward to the freezing nights and warm, sunny days of February and March.  The combination of warm days and colder nights is the key ingredient for the maple trees in New England to yield sap.

For a demonstration and a first-hand look at maple syrup season in Connecticut, head to Lamothe's for a tour (free) on either  saturday or sunday from 1:00-4:30pm.  There are maple lolipops for the kids as well as hot maple coffee, mulled apple cider and other product samples to enjoy.  While waiting for the tour to begin, the kids can visit with the farm's bunnies.
