Hueston Woods State Park, in Butler and Preble Counties northwest of Cincinnati, will host its forty-fifth annual Maple Syrup Festival this weekend, March 12-13.
Participants can start the day with a pancake breakfast at the Lodge from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. $5 for children 10 and under, ($6 for everyone else).
The festival will also feature free maple syrup tours starting at the beach parking lot (from noon to 4 p.m.), through the “Big Woods” (a designated State Nature Preserve), and including the art of maple syrup production as well as the cultural and natural history of the area. Food, drink, and maple syrup—of course—will be on sale throughout the day.
The Hueston Woods Nature Center will also be open this weekend, providing outdoor and indoor exhibits of reptiles, birds of prey, and a resident mountain lion and bobcat.
