On Sunday, March 25, 2012, there will be a Maple Syrup Festival at Aldo Leopold Nature Center. It runs from 1 pm to 3 pm and proceeds will benefit the nature center's children's programs.
Cost for members is $6.00 per person or $20.00 per family. Non members cost will be $7.00 per person or $25.00 per family.
Nature center volunteers and teachers will tap trees on the nature center's grounds and collect the sap. A blazing fire will reduce the sap into pure maple syrup. There will be games, trivia contests and opportunities to take part in cooking demonstrations. Ice cream sundaes topped with pure maple syrup will be available to tempt appetites.
