Does your family know where the maple syrup that tops their pancakes comes from? Sugar Grove Nature Center is offering homeschooling families an up-close look at maple syrup production. Their Maple Sirup Experience programs are a popular annual tradition. By participating in one of these events, your students will receive an understanding of how maple syrup goes from tree to table.
Maple Sirup Experience is a day filled with demonstrations and hands-on experiences. Each student will have an opportunity to tap a tree. Please dress for the weather, as part of the program will be held outdoors. Participants will each be given a souvenir bottle of maple syrup to take home.
Two sessions of Maple Sirup Experience will be offered for homeschoolers. Programs will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5 and Wednesday, March 6.
The cost is $7 for children and $2 for adults. Children under age three are free. Registration forms and fees must be received by Friday, Feb. 15.
Sugar Grove is located in Funks Grove in McLean County. It's off of Old Route 66, south of Bloomington. Call 309-874-2174 for information on the Maple Sirup Experience.
