Many still question death of Miriam Carey, who claimed Obama fathered her child

Almost immediately after Miriam Carey was shot and killed by authorities in Washington, D.C. after hitting a security barrier near the White House, then leading police on a short chase through the streets, people started to ask questions. A column published yesterday by Josef Farah on World Net Daily addresses some of those questions, and also asks why many of them remain unanswered.

The first question many people want answered is why was she shot and killed? Couldn’t she have been apprehended and taken into custody? She was, after all, unarmed. Police never saw a weapon, because there was no weapon to be seen.

Three separate law enforcement agencies were involved in the chase and subsequent shooting, the Secret Service, the Capitol Hill Police and the Washington Metro Police. Some people don’t understand why officers from those agencies fired an unknown number of rounds into her car when her then 13-month-old child was inside.

Authorities say Carey was shot while she was still in the car. Yet some reports claim she had emerged from the vehicle before she was gunned down. Either way one thing is clear, Carey’s car was stopped, boxed in by police, and was no longer posing a threat to anyone. Police officers had surrounded the car with their guns drawn and pointed at her. Police still will not say how many shots were ultimately fired, and the forensics report has still not been released.

Members of Carey’s family and some of her friends believe she was suffering from severe mental and emotional issues and say that she believed President Obama was stalking her and keeping her under surveillance. Then there are those who don't believe Carey's beliefs were delusional at all, and think it may be possible that she was indeed under a watchful eye.

A few alternative media sites have published stories of a ‘love child,’ the young girl who was in the car at the time of the shooting, and the child Carey allegedly claimed was fathered by President Barack Obama. Some have suggested that Carey was murdered to keep the story of the 'love child' from becoming public. There are even stories on the internet that claim Carey was lured to the White House under false pretences, that she was told the president had summoned her for a meeting to discuss the child, and then executed to guarantee her silence.

Rev. James David Manning of Atlah World Missionary Church claimed on his radio show recently that Carey’s family has called for a paternity test to determine whether the woman’s 15-month-old daughter was in fact fathered by the president. That allegation has neither been publicly confirmed nor denied by the family.

Whether or not Manning’s claim that they have asked for a paternity test is true or not, Carey's family apparently does have questions. They have asked U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and the Dept. of Justice to investigate the fatal shooting.

There is a petition on Change.org , purportedly started by Carey’s sister, Valerie Carey, asking the DOJ to “conduct a swift and independent investigation." Valerie Carey says that despite the accusation by authorities that her sister "rammed" a White House gate, “The 2010 black Infiniti car Miriam Carey drove did NOT have front end damage nor did the airbags deploy,” then she adds, “The most my sister may have been guilty of was a traffic infraction which is NOT justification for killing her.”

Photos and video released by the media back Valerie Carey's contention that there was no damage to the front of the vehicle. She may have "bumped" the barrier, but it certainly doesn't appear that she "rammed" it. She had no weapon so it's hard to believe she wanted to harm President Obama, and no matter how delusional she may have been it's doubtful she was crazy believe she could get anyhere near the president, unless perhaps she was under the impression she had an invitation.

Did police overreact, or were they justified in killing Carey? Is there more to the story or nothing to see here? Whatever the case, the questions will continue to be asked and some will never be satisfied with the answers, if any ever come.
