Spoiled today Sept. 5, 2014 in a post to, Mantis Rider is a powerful new Magic: The Gathering card featured in Wizards of the Coast's upcoming expert expansion set Khans of Tarkir. This rare creature provides mages with a very aggressive threat which also doubles for defense.

Mantis riders know that their mounts don't owe them loyalty. Even a Mantis that has been broken in for years would devour its rider if he ever loses it's concentration.

Clearly reminiscent of Lightning Angel, Mantis Rider falls victim to Lightning Strike and Anger of the Gods. That one extra point of toughness makes all the difference in Modern too, where Lightning Bolt sees heavy play.

That being said, Mantis Rider is still and excellent card this player is eager to get his hands on. Between the Scry lands, Painlands, Mana Confluence, and Fetchlands, there's no doubt it'll have the support to enter the battlefield on turn three.
