This Saturday night in Caguas, Puerto Rico, at the Coliseo Roger L. Mendoza, Miguel Cotto Promotions/Top Rank (Bob Arum) has on their fight card Russian resident Anton ‘The Pick Hammer’ Novikov (27-0, 10 KO’s) taking on Denver resident Manny ‘Manos’ Perez (20-9-1, 4 KO's) in a scheduled for 10 round bout at a contracted weight of 141 pounds.

The 5’9” and 25 years-old southpaw Novikov looks to add to the dominance of Russian fighters over Denver fighters, something the 5’7” and 29 years-old Perez plans on bringing to a screeching halt.

The fight may be broadcast locally by KTFD (Channel 14 on DISH Network) beginning at 10PM MST.

Thanks to Colorado LBC President Jeanne DePriest for providing updated information on the Memorial Services for longtime North Denver Tigers and recent Colorado Golden Gloves Hall-of-Fame inductee Vic Abad.

The rosary will be this Thursday, December 12th @ 7:00 pm at Guardian Angels Church and burial services this Friday, December 13th @ 11:00 am at Guardian Angels Church.

Guardian Angels Church is located at 1843 W. 52nd Avenue, (off of 52nd & Pecos) with the obituary in the Denver Post this Wednesday.

Coach Abad will be sorely missed, condolences to his many friends and family.

Earlier in the evening on SHOWTIME beginning at 6PM MST, the WBA World welterweight title belonging to Adrien ‘The Problem’ Broner (27-0, 22 KO’s) is on the line when he makes his first title defense against hard punching Argentinian Marcos Rene ‘El Chino’ Maidana (34-3, 31 KO’s) in a scheduled for 12 rounds main event held at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

The co-main event features what should be an exciting bout when Keith ‘One Time’ Thurman (21-0, 19 KO’s) defends his WBA World Interim welterweight title against Jesus ‘Renuente’ Soto-Karass (32-12-4, 19 KO’s) in a bout that should not go the distance.

WBC bantamweight champion Leo ‘Terremoto ‘ Santa Cruz (25-0-1, 15 KO’s) makes his first title defense against Cesar Seda (25-1, 17 KO’s) in a bout that should end with another Santa Cruz KO.

This Saturday night should be MUST SEE TV for boxing fans nationwide.
