Anne Hathaway's Oscar campaigning for Best Supporting Actress in Les Miserables has been so persistent that many have become tired of her, but shoe designer Manolo Blahnik just can't seem to remember who she is!
On February 21, Page Six revealed a few quotes from the designer from the March issue of Interview magazine, and let's just say that he's not as up-to-date with Hollywood starlets as they are with his line of red-bottomed luxury footwear. It turns out that he'd rather return to the days of Twin Peaks, David Lynch's dramatic 1990-1991 television series.
“I saw these girls like Sherilyn Fenn and Lara Flynn Boyle that should be working now instead of these anonymous girls,” he says. “They’re all the same. I don’t even know Amanda Seyfried or whatever...I try to remember—the only one I remember is Julia Roberts because she’s particular. Anne Hathaway...Pretty? Yes. Wonderful actress? Yes. But, I mean, I don’t even remember her. What is it about her?...As Catwoman, yes, and I’m not saying she’s not beautiful or a great actress. I just don’t remember her.”
Of course, Blahnik is allowed to have favorite actresses just like the rest of us, but he'd do well to remember that these "unmemorable" girls (and Sex and the City, of course) are why the expensive heels he designs are so famous—and sought after. No red carpet would be the same without them!
